More than One Million People Download Free Suze Orman Book in an Exclusive Offer from “The Oprah Winfrey Show”

Febrary 15, 2008 – More than one million people downloaded a free electronic version of Suze Orman’s bestselling book WOMEN & MONEY after an exclusive offer announced on a February 13 broadcast of “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” The e-book was offered in both English and Spanish language editions on www.oprah.com for a 33-hour period, in what represented the first time Winfrey had offered an entire book for free to her viewing audience. In response, there were 1.1 million downloads of the book in English and 19,000 downloads of the Spanish edition.

“This great offer came right from Suze’s heart, because she is passionate about women gaining control over their finances,” said Winfrey.

“I believe WOMEN & MONEY is the most important book I’ve ever written, so this was not about getting people to buy the book, but getting them to read it, and that was the intention behind this offer,” said Orman.

“We are thrilled by the response to this unique and exclusive opportunity,” said Julie Grau, publisher of WOMEN & MONEY. “It has built excitement for Suze’s book across all formats, and Suze’s act of incredible generosity dovetailed perfectly with her and Oprah’s shared desire to help people watching this show save their money and save themselves. We feel privileged to be a part of this event.”

Published in February 2007 by Spiegel & Grau, a division of Random House Inc., WOMEN & MONEY has more than one million copies in print after 15 printings, and has appeared on numerous bestseller lists including those of the New York Times, Publishers Weekly, USA Today, Wall Street Journal and BusinessWeek.
